Nirmala Sitharaman takes charge of Defence Ministry
Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman took charge of the Defence Ministry on Thursday. Niramala Sitharaman is first full time female Defence Minister of India. Her predecessor Union Minister Arun Jaitley was on a tour to Japan to attend the India-Japan annual defence ministerial dialogue in Tokyo and that delayed her taking charge of the crucial ministry.
Speaking to the media after taking charge as country's Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman said her top priority will be the welfare of the armed forces and to look into the long pending defence issues.
