Work for New India relying on creativity & innovation: PM tells Youth
On the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's world famous Chicago address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a gathering of youth at the national capital's Vigyan Bhawan on the theme 'Young India, New India'.
The Prime Minister inspired the youth to pledge themselves to the service of the nation like Swami Vivekananad. He also appealed to them to come forward to solve the nation's problems and promote the spirit of unity in diversity.
Prime Minister Modi stressed on creativity among the youth to make their lives meaningful. He laid emphasis on the skill development of youngsters and urged them to work towards making a modern India.
The Prime Minister said that Swami Vivekananda's Chicago address delivered one and a quarter centuries ago still remains relevant. He referred to the thinker's 'One Asia' vision recollecting his words that the solution to the world's problems will emerge from Asia itself.
He also referred to the coincidence of how the Chicago address and the terror attacks on New York's twin towers took place the same day saying if we had paid heed to Vivekananda's 9/11 address, the 21st century's 9/11 would not have taken place.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated that Government wants youth to become job creators not job seekers.
He said Vivekananda was a fountainhead of modern thinking who stressed on leaving behind outdated ideas.
The Prime Minister said that Swami Vivekananda raised his voice against the social evils that have entered our society.
He recalled that the Swami set aside rituals and instead stressed on 'Jan Seva' as 'Prabhu Seva.'

He also gave credit for the country's first green revolution to the thinker
The Prime Minister urged the youth to inculcate pride for each region and language in the country as without it unity in diversity ideal will not sustain
The Prime Minister also stressed on cleanliness saying if anyone has the first right to chant 'Vande Mataram' in the country it is those who're involved in keeping it clean.
He congratulated those who kept their surroundings and hospitals clean and said its the impact of the Swacch Bharat campaign that daughters have refused to stay with their in-laws if they don't have a toilet.
The event had been organised by the Deendayal Research Institute and the Prime Minister used the occasion to also talk about the 100th birth anniversary of the ideologue this year elaborating on his thinking related to Antyodaya.
